Chiemsee is a large lake where there the two islands found within are for the enjoyment of all too see. 

The first island called the "Man's Island" host Ludwig the 2nd summer home. Ludwig was famous for having the castle in Neuvanstein that was used as the basis for Walt Disney World. His castle has only 20 of the 70 rooms completed as he ran out of money. He never really got to use his castle as he was perhaps murdered before the castles completion. Perhaps it was the money? Ludwig was also responsible for sponsoring Bismarck in his unification of Germany.  

The second smaller island is the "Female Island". Here stands a nunnery that dates back to 300 ad. The nunnery never allowed outside visitors until 20 years ago due to financial needs. Today the island is open by ferry boat and this is were my Uncle Axel provided us with many found memories of our first family reunion.
